What drawing software do you recommend when moving onto a laptop+ tablet drawing setup? I heard Clip studio paint was quite user friendly, but it costs quite a lot

I do like krita, I don't do a lot of digital drawings but I find it easy to understand and it's free, with enough brushes in my opinion.

Firealpaca is a good program, I personally use it my art, the brushes are great and itβs completely free!

MediBang is the software I used when I was younger and didn't have a lot of money. It is a great alternative, has its own cloud system, plenty of tutorials + an online community! Also it is very easy to create brushes. It's definitely something I would 100% recommend until you are able to comfortably make a purchase for a program like CSP.

Medibang or fire alpaca are good free options honestly works like any other software like paint Sai and clip studio not too many restrictions either

β’There 3 different tiers for Clip Studio Paint and you don't need to get the top tier to start. I had the basic package (Clip Studio Debut) for years before upgrading to Pro. I still don't have EX because the upgrade is mainly for animations and really specific tasks. I recommend getting Debut to start and upgrading when there's a sale if the program feels right for you.

Clip studio paint is great, but krita is a great free alternative, Krita is the one that I use and is comfortable, it has itβs weird stuff though.

Just want to mention reason why I don't buy Clip Studio Paint is because I use different currency (MYR) and I don't have a stable income since I'm a minor
β’
Krita is free, and is always being updated for new features. I don't know how much it measures up to Clip but I like using it

β’Clip studio goes on sale for 50% off sometimes, thatβs when I got it. Got the cheaper version for 25 USD which is great considering sai is 50 dollars, Corel products are upwards of 200, etc. but, if you really want/need a free program try Krita.
β’
β’Paint Tool SAI is a great option but I'm not sure about the price. It's rather simple compared to other programs though
Clip Studio Paint often has sales up to 50% off, you can keep an eye on that if you want. I myself have recently moved to it and it was the best 25 bucks spent for my art. I swear it's super worth it!
As for free options, I can't quite recommend from my own experience but Krita, MediBang, Fire Alpaca and Autodesk Sketchbook are the most popular among the artists. I believe Krita and Fire Alpaca even have animation tools!

β’Who told you it costs a lot? It's like 20 bucks in sale, and sale is multiple times a year?
