As much as I'm enjoying watching twitter crash and burn in real time because of Musk's mismanagement....

The consequences of this websites potential death are HUGE.
The vast majority of twitter staff appear to have been laid off from what I'm hearing. Like, thousands of job losses.
The site has lost so many critical engineers, one small error might spiral out of control bc no one who knows how to fix it is left.

But twitter became pretty essential to a lot of people as well. Artists used it to network, find clients, and sell their goods. Businesses of all sizes use it to advertise.
It also provided one of the best ways to keep up with news in real time.
It's a global community, where people can connect in real time over shared interests (casual reminder - the football world cup is starting soon and the last one drove a LOT of traffic to Twitter). Revolutions were LITERALLY organised on twitter.

It might be a hellsite (derogatory), but it also has genuine value to society?
Watching Musk show how incompetent he is in real time is funny as hell, but the possible outcome is Not.

I just hope all the fired employees can find a new job fast. And that someone can set up an alternative to twitter before this slow motion train wreck finally explodes.....

he's not incompetent. he's very good at fucking people over. that's why he's a billionaire
Oh wait one more thing - a bunch of people who work for twitter in the US are immigrants on visas. Twitter goes under and they lose their right to be in the US.... ( o.o)b
The last ~2k or so job losses aren't confirmed, but it's around that many people who refused to sign up for Musk's "twitter 2.0" 12 hour working days ultimatum. So he either has to backtrack on the concept and show himself to be Weak (something he very much does not want to do) or fire everyone... And literally doom the entire website.

Honestly, really thinking this guy always intended to destroy twitter the moment he was forced to ACTUALLY buy it. All to potentially avoid prison from a stock manipulation investigation it seems.....
