I’ve never hosted a DTIYS before and out of curiosity, I wanted to ask artists who have participanted in one:

I think it’s cause lots of the work is done for you already and you can have fun playing with new techniques and design choices. Kinda like what we do with coloring books

Being able to draw a character without having to plan out everything in advance and searching the internet for references.

This helped me a lot to see that I really do have a drawing style and to polish it over time. It's a great opportunity to analyze what you do, plus you have a lot of fun interpreting other people's art

I like how they can provide me with a wide variety of different types of people to draw, helping to push the boundaries of my art

just being able to draw without having to think about colours and design ehe

You don't have to think what to draw, just how you draw it.
It also helps with trying new compositions and ways you can use colors

I really like not having to think about a character design, because it allows me to focus on pose, color palette, composition, etc.

Using someone else’s colour palette is really satisfying because my colours are almost always randomly picked haha

The cool thing about DTIYS is that I can fully push out if my comfort zone and draw someone else’s character

i like it when dtiys has an interesting concept or elements that u can play with, personally i think it helps to have a cohesive theme (eg. food/spooky) cos then it's easier to invent and add on new elements related to the theme

i consider DTIYS a sort of personal style study as well as "master study" cos i get to really look at this artist's style choices and contemplate them against my own, which makes me appreciate the artist's style a lot more
