@BugSpirit's post on Artfol

Hello just a friendly psa from your local supportive dad. People don't want to support you if you constantly put out negative emotions.

While I'm not saying don't vent, venting is absolutely okay. Seeing vent art can be therapeutic to some, as it makes them feel not alone in their struggles. If you are going to post vent though, I recommend putting a spoiler on it as some people may not be in the mood to see it.

With that out out of the way... What I mean by "negative emotions" is constantly letting yourself down. It drags others down around you as well.

Phrases like "Why do people follow me, my art is bad." "I don't have that many followers, because I suck." "My art looks horrible." "I'm a bad person, why do people want to be around me." All are in the umbrella of what I'm talking about.

Say you look up to this artist, your biggest inspiration. You make fanart, like and comment on every post, they keep you going in life. Then you see they posted a new text post "Why do people follow me? My art is trash." You feel horrible. This is someone you look up to, and they're degrading themself. You start to wonder if you are worth it either? Same can apply to someone degrading your favorite artist.

This is the vicious cycle it gets dragged into. It only brings yourself and others around you down. Look at how you speak about yourself, others. It can be hard, we are our own worst critics. You can improve, you disliking your art means you see the mistakes. Now use that knowledge to improve. Nothing will ever be perfect, so don't make everything forced perfection. We look at our art longer than anyone else will, we pretty much date it.

Rather 1 follower or 100 followers, people look up to you. Be a positive influence.
