I’m really enjoying learning gouache and practicing watercolor again, but it really highlighted for me how much slower a process it is working traditionally than digitally (for me).
I did forget the amount of friction there is since I had put so much time into digital for so long. It adds to the challenge that makes it rewarding, in a way.
I know I talked about this a little a few months back but I only dabbled in mostly sketching which isn’t as much friction so it was more about the act of drawing traditionally vs digital and I barely painted again until now so I’m kind of taking stock of some different things from that.
Also there are other positives like the traditional process itself, but I couldn’t just whip out some paints real fast when I have 15min to spare. I’d have to lay everything out and take my time before during and even after (closing up paints and putting away supplies, letting art dry, etc). That’s not to say I’m not having fun, it’s just very a stark difference! And as a girlie who gets caught up in tool and workspace customization in digital, I’m too happy to organize my supplies obsessively into the most convenient storage containers too lol (productive procrastination is my specialty). I’m very excited to show some of what I’ve been up to tho when it’s readyJul 21, 2024
