The Gate

“According to my sources the landscapes about the Gate are truly idyllic, surreal even. However, it’s also said that you’ll only find empty waters, hills and trees for miles in its radius. Its uncertain as to why, as nothing and no one has ever been recorded to come from the other side. The curious that have visited it hint at a pervasive stillness, but refuse to elaborate more. There are the rare insatiable few who are bold, or foolish, enough to dare and cross the threshold, but those who do never return. On that score witnesses I’ve tracked down refuse to speak more on the matter, and all I’ve been able to glean is that when they returned their friends and family report that they came back as half themselves. It seems I have no choice but to go see it for myself, long has the Gate haunted my sleep since I first heard of it as a young student in the academy. What lays beyond? And how badly do I want that answer?”
