Question! What's a detail people tend to forget when drawing your characters? Is it a noticeable detail, and does it bother you? 🤔

I'll start: People tend to leave out my fursona's "ponytail" (it's like a tuft of hair but that's pretty much what it is LMAO) when drawing him. And tbh I don't care if people include it either way, it doesn't really change anything about his design.

I used to think it was a really obvious detail but now I'm not so sure haha 🥲

Ohh some people have forgotten to draw my ocs scales... some others like to add things. One person drew Zachir without scales, but with horns, which he doesnt have ;-; and many people draw their ears various degrees of pointy. I've never drawn them with pointy ears! Please dont change their design like that :') they're not elves

Haha I have a good one ! I often get fanarts of Nyxie, and fun thing is that her hair is tied in a side ponytail ( on the right side of her head)

But everyone draw her with a regular ponytail instead 😂
It amuses me a lot

Ains hairclips 🥲 she has 4 hairclips in total with 2 on each side of her head. When people draw her they either forget the clips entirely, change them from square to triangle, draw them on one side or draw them too low on her hair

Then again it’s probably my fault for drawing her in most 3/4 so it doesn’t show the other side of her hair ;;

sometimes when I forget to draw my oc reference sheet they'll look slightly off model. This happens a LOT with my oc Sera, btw.

Reference sheets are important people!

Hmmm well I don't get my characters drawn a lot, but...

Time people usually more or less nail. Sometimes his hair's a little too short or too long but that happens to the best of us. I think I've also seen people not include a few star-shaped freckles like he has in his og design but thats okay

With Embers, someone once drew him with a skin tone for his human form that was a bit darker than his actual skin tone. Didn't bother me too much, I guess, it's still my phone bg after all.
But what (while i understand missing it) does throw me off a little more is not including his tattoo. He got it in honor of his brother's death, so it's kinda important.

Freece i think is the one people get things wrong about the most. While people usually nail Time's skin color (black/dark grey), I've had people confuse Freece as just being (irl) white or unusually pale, but in actuality it is literal snow white. Doesn't mean I expect people to go to the brightest white on their color wheel, but within the color scheme and lighting it should come off as being paper white. I'm of course glad for any art I get!! but it does kinda bother me - representing ice and snow is kinda his whole schtick.
Speaking of that, people get confused with his hair. They seem to think I just draw spikes because I draw hair like some manga do, when in reality his hair looks like that because a lot of it is frozen. I do understand the confusion, though! I don't mind this as much as the skin thing, especially since, realistically, it's probably more accurate in a way.

Then, I've had people get his ear shape wrong, and someone probably missed an important scar here and there. I've also had folks draw him with his glasses before, in which case they were sometimes too small. The small glasses do bother me, but the scars i can understand- even if they're important, they're often hard to spot.

At the end of the day, I'm grateful for anyone taking their time to draw my OCs. But, these are all things I've noticed.

Gree is a beauceron which is a dog breed that has polydactyl hind paws but people usually don’t draw his extra toes, doesn’t bother me too much but I think it’s such a neat thing abt beaucerons and I wanna see it more :P

Eyelashes on male/masculine presenting characters. I give my boys & mascs eyelashes, but it’s worse when the character has noticeably LONG eyelashes, especially because I don’t make the eyelashes pencil thin & (with Artfight) I specifically have it written out that the character has noticeably long eyelashes!

That & people giving my 4 fingered characters 5 fingers like a typical human hand; it’s not a big deal at all & seems to happen to the artists who are very accustomed to drawing 5 fingers all the time!

One thing I do find very weird though is that people tend to give my characters who clearly have horse-like hooves (& with Artfight, it is specified that the hooves are horse-like, as well as clearly shown to not be cloven at all) cloven hooves instead? Again, it’s not a big deal at all, just an odd observation that I’m actually not sure why it occurs!

After that, it’s moreso character specific stuff like people not drawing my mascot Bentley’s funky teeth correctly, which I actually understand why it happens; each of his 3 teeth that stick out of his mouth are all different sizes, from our left to right, it’s medium, small, large. Because of the order, people mostly draw that medium tooth as another large tooth to match the OG large tooth on the right! And then some people forget his small tooth for some reason; maybe just a stylistic choice?

People don't draw my characters very much but when my friend drew one of my characters, they forgot her octopus arms. I'm glad they did honestly. It's only noticeable if you can see his waist though.

people make my hair brown instead of black when it’s obvious it’s black 😭 im naturally brown haired n i make an active effort to keep my hair black so it’s a bit annoying

glasses!! people usually leave out glasses on my characters like socks, cicada, and keiko. it does really bother me a lot but it does sort of upset me a little because I have went so far as to make a folder translating things that people often don't recognize in my art because of art style and put a disclaimer on my profile to please look at the folder before drawing fanart and it still happens. it doesn't really upset me, but it just really makes me appreciate when people DO add glasses to them and yknow put the extra effort in actually looking at the translator post
