The Wild Swans
It’s been a while since I’ve done a full illustration! This is based off of the fairytale, The Wild Swans, by Hans Christian Anderson. With a few details taken from other versions of the tale(for example, I went with seven swans as opposed to eleven, as that seemed an absurd amount of swans to fit into one drawing). This was a really fun project though and I’d love to possibly do some more fairytale illustrations!Some explanation for those who haven’t read the fairytale; The Princess’s brothers are turned into swans by their stepmother, only becoming human during the night. The Princess then has to make shirts out of stinging nettles(or flowers, depending on the version) for each of her brothers, and she can’t speak until this task is complete. A few things happen in between, but as with most fairytales, this one has a happy ending, and her brothers are all restored to their former selves upon
