I'm buying a laptop for college and I'm looking at gaming laptops because I need something that can handle big programs and files (illustrator, Autocad, etc.) I'd get a PC except it's not portable.
Anyway my question is: is Huawei a good brand? I can find many laptops with the qualities I need but I'm sure the brand matters in a way too. If Huawei isn't a good option what do you recommend?

If you want something powerful, then Macbooks is your choice.
Macbook pro if you beed the a beast. But Macbook Air would be able to handle the most you want to do if you just upgrade the RAM.

With that money why not get a refurbished macbook on Amazon. MacBook is way more powerful than Pc running adobe suite and studio programs in general. The average price for these ones are around 600-800

Personally am using legion laptop but that might be a little pricey though idk what your budget is.
Considering you said "autocad", "illustrator" then I assume your major is related to design or engineering, so I can tell you that my laptop can handle big programs from 3D softwares and 2D and many other things, and it has a great graphics card.
I have it for about 2 years now I think, and it is working pretty nicely!! Hopefully it lasts even more lol.
Though I know some of my classmates are using omen, alien, Asus, HP and it looks like it can get the job done too.
Also you can watching YouTube videos that reviews gaming laptop cuz that helped me pick my laptop to get the job done.

I wanna throw this out there that if you're doing art, you'll wanna be aware that "color accurate" screens cost a chunk. So you'll need to factor that in too

Have you looked into a thinkpad? I know with my thinkpad I can run the sims 4 with a bunch of the dlc + mods and custom content. I don’t run any big programs and files but I figure if it can handle the sims and run it relatively smooth then it might work for those things as well. Hope your able to find something that works, laptop shopping can be stressful
