A person (who identifies as an award-winning professional artist according to their profile info) commented on my insta saying that mine was the first digital picture they ever saw in their life, and then said they had no idea why would someone even make digital pictures because you can't hang them on the wall.

Thats really weird yeah. Also? You can hang digital art on your wall??? There's this really cool thing called a printer, I think they would marvel at this invention.
There's plenty of merit to making digital art and art holds much more value than whether or not you can put it on your wall

•That is really weird since CGI exists in movies & TV shows, photoshop/digital editing/art is used for billboards & ads in magazines/on the computer & movie posters, & digital art itself is very common to see on apps like Instagram, Twitter, & Tumblr, if you’re in the right corners of those apps.

What rock have they been living under? The whole internet is full of digital art not to mention tv, games and advertising. Feels like they're just a troll trying to provoke you. The whole "digital art isn't real art" non debate is so tired
I can't hang a movie or a novel on the wall either but no one's saying film making and writing aren't art.

I mean, sometimes it's easy to forget that something normalised to us isn't necessarily the same for others. I've heard plenty of older generation artists complaining how digital art isn't real art and everything on that spectrum
Might just be someone stubborn who's never shown any interest towards a new format? I don't know???
But hey. Nothing's stopping people from printing out digital art tho. Could paper my whole wall with art if I wanted :'D
