Jamie's Journal: Drowning
Another Journal entry of my Ark inspired OC Jamie. Here the poor guy nearly drowns. Base coloring, still needs shading.Journal Text:
I only remember fragments of what happened that day, whether it is denial or simply the fact that I almost drowned, I don't know. Most likely it is a mixture of both.
But who I remember exactly is the creature to which I owe my life. Had I been conscious, I would certainly have panicked, as everyone else might have, because a full-grown Mosasaurus is a majestic, but at the same time terrifying sight.
However, I lost consciousness when I hit the surface of the water from a great height. You wouldn't believe how hard water can get when you hit it awkwardly with your head, and really there was no choice but to jump, because I had to choose between Clint's people catching me again, torture, torment, or the sea with all its dangers and the option of not surviving the fall.
It's amazing what you are capable of when fear drives you and under normal circumstances I wouldn't have even thought about ever jumping down the cliff, so I had no choice.
Once again I was probably luckier than I realized and I survived the jump and the creature that saw me sinking lower and lower unconscious was the Mosa that escaped then in the chaos that was raging in Clint's camp. It was unusual that the animal remembered me, but it showed me again how intelligent the creatures were here on the island.
I later found myself on the beach without knowing how I had ended up there. At first I assumed that I was lucky and had been washed ashore by the sea, but the drag marks next to me spoke another language, the marks of a massive body that had dragged itself ashore to lay me down there, and I put one and one together.
Quickly I knew what kind of creature it must have been and later I also learned which one it had been exactly and I gave him the name Poseidon.
Unfortunately, I don't know what has become of him since I left the Ark, but I hope that he is still roaming the sea there, happy and content.Apr 13, 2023
