Mega Aptenodyte: Chicks

As the babies would need a period of getting used to the extreme cold of their habitat, they hatch with a big, poofy layer of isolating feathers that slowly fall off as they reach adolescence.

Their neck bones, as well as the head plates for males start growing soon after hatching

Fun fact their name “Mega Aptenodyte” means large penguin.May 23, 2021
