Sontar Airdan, stick it to the rich man

I designed my DnD character Barley’s famous warrior mentor!

Their name is Sontar Airdan, and they’re a bit of a Robin Hood type - a folk hero, cat burglar and master archer, whose band of merry thieves was absorbed into the Myriad crime syndicate many years ago.

Now, they spend their time being paraded around to make the Myriad seem like swashbuckling redistributors of wealth, and teaching green young criminals like Barley how to shoot and steal.

He’s become a bitter husk of his once dashing and idealistic self, but still holds a dim hope that maybe he can make the Myriad better, or at least help the new blood survive.

Originally when I created Barley, I used the Heroic Chronicle to roll for some of his traits, which is how he became a member of the Myriad, a Port Damali native, and a son to a single mother. I also rolled a “fateful moment” for him, which was that “a famous warrior trained him with what has become his signature weapon”.

So, Sontar sprung into being, as the famed archer who taught Barley to use his crossbow. Making her a more experienced fellow Myriad member made the most sense with the rest of his existing story, and the Robin Hood vibe came pretty naturally to her from there.
