We had the fruity Pinocchio, the recent live action remake by Disney and the del toro one set to release in December. Why out of all the fairy tale stories, Pinocchio is the one to get remaked the most this year. Not saying the original is bad but why Pinocchio? It just feels random to pick that one.

I think it’s a coincidence.
But from what I’ve seen Del Toro’s Pinocchio is looking good.
I haven’t watched the Disney remake version but I heard it’s bad.
And we don’t talk about fruity Pinocchio

I would say it's likely just a case of twin films. but we've known about del Toro's one for years, and since it's stop motion - production time is pretty long. I wouldn't be surprised if the first one that came out was meant to be a mockbuster to GTDs version. And given how bad Disney's live action one is being received, wouldn't be surprised if they quickly made a crappy version to bury GTDs film, as well as renew their copyright to their pinocchio design.
