@lilgraciedraws's post on Artfol

People keep complaining about insta but I feel like people are more willing the like/follow there than here. Anyone else have that experience?Jan 2, 2021

I actually still have Insta! However, because I don't like to use the algorithm. It's been a year—going for two now and I am still only getting 20-30 likes every now and then.

It's probably just me not being an artist that draws fan art, but I haven't been posting lately due to no motivation and nothing to post on there. So I don't think I'm feeling affected by whatever they're doing yet.

But here? It's going slowly, but I'm sure if I see some artist supports every now and then, I'm gonna get larger—Which is probably the reason why I am not a huge artist on insta yet because I don't look to those types of stuff ( ")
The thing is artfol is in beta mode with a small team working on it.

Compared to a huge company that is spending more time being other apps then itself. While it is true isntagram has more traffic, who says that traffic is going to you?

There are people who've been on isnta since 2015 and still struggling to get a following.
Artfol is a fresh app that will get it's time when it's ready.
(Which would be beneficial because you're already here, just need patience)

While isntagram is getting on everyone's nerves not just artist. Not saying it'll be unpopular or fade into obscurity. But I won't be surprised when it won't be at the top it once was if they keep this up.
Insta nowadays is just finding all sorts of new ways to anger their smaller users.
On Artfol, I feel like it's a nice little community, people are very supportive and interactive, most people are friendly. It isn't oversaturated here like it is on instagram, so I think that's why it's easier to get seen here, there's less "competition" and ofc there's no algorithm monster coming after anyone.
I get more likes on instagram because I have more followers on there, but it took me years to gain the amount of followers I have on instagram. On Artfol, so far it has been easier to gain followers, my account is growing a lot faster than I expected it to, and I think my posts get more likes the more followers I have.

Also, Instagram in general has really been going downhill lately. With the insane algorithm, to the unfair and strict ToS/guidelines/rules, to the new shopping tab feature... My account's engagement is way lower than usual, lately. I posted a watercolor portrait and it only got 42 likes, when in the past, similar posts of mine would get at least 60 likes, sometimes even as high as 100! Besides posting a bit less frequently, I have not changed anything on my insta. This is all very frustrating.
