You can either go and learn all the stuff and write a script and torture yourself with all the stuff you think you need to follow - or you just sit down and draw little pictures following little pictures just becausw you want to.
Have fun with it before you aim for an eisner award!

So I am gonna drop some useful advices. Firstly, you have write your script, it doesn't have to be too detailed but should be useful enough. Then, you nee to learn how to use the comic frames in one comic page. For this, I reccomend you to read and examine other comics to see how they put frames in the story. Start practicing with little comic pages. Dont start with whole ass comic. That's all, good luck!
