I'm at that level where I find looking at traditional painting processes much more useful than digital ones
even though I rarely work traditionally.

Me too. I find watching oil paintings videos are much useful for my digital paintings than watching videos specifically for digital paintings.
Doing it on the same process as traditional painters would do is better for me too because they limit the color pallete and give more potential to pop up color.
I've never done any oil paintings, only watercolors
. My art teacher in my childhood didn't allow it because I was really suck at drawing, painting, and choosing colors.
