“Jelly-sea” / Jealousy Illustration

This is a piece about jealousy and overcoming it, rising above it. When we talk about jealousy, we often use the phrase, “green with envy.” The jellyfish surrounding the main figure represent this envy!! The green glows against her skin but she still rises above!

When I was younger, I always internally struggled with jealousy. I rarely voiced it or showed how I was feeling, but I remember hating how envious I’d feel at times. It’s not a loving feeling. I remember thinking to myself many times that I didn’t want to grow into a jealous adult. I didn’t want to carry that bitterness with me in life. I started working on this feeling immediately so it wouldn’t grow and fester. I intentionally and consciously fought against it, prayed about it, and worked to rid this feeling from me.

I had a realization sometime last year when the topic of jealousy came up that I hadn’t felt this feeling hardly at all as an adult. Every now and then, of course because I’m human, I feel it, but then choose to rise above it and let it go!!! I’m so so thankful that it doesn’t have control over me. It doesn’t have to control over any of us!! We have to recognize our problems & consciously fight against them! Rise above!!
