Bad child 🌈⛓ 🖤

This is the first scene I’ve pretty much ever done and I’m sooooo hecking proud of it, I’m proud of the background and the shading though I know I could have done better detailing maybe lol

Anyways any tips on how I could maybe get Ruben to blend in with the scene? I wanted something like dark but also as if a flashlight was being shined on them?

It looks really good! The floor kinda blends in with the wall cause of the color but its still really good!!
Hey! This looks amazing! I love your toony style, and the detail you put into this is awesome!

I find that starting out with a multiply layer using the colour of the shadows in the background, covering the entire character, usually helps blend it out a bit! From there, I'll add more multiply layers using the same colour to make some areas extra dark (like the feet, and toward the back of the character!) I also recommend searching up how to add texture to parts of your drawing- you could take some of that cool gritty texture from the background, and apply the same sort of texture to the character to make them fit!

If you want a flashlight effect, I would recommend using any sort of light layer (my favorites are hard light and vivid light), and start by drawing a clear line of the light to see where it will be hitting the character! From there, highlight areas the light will be hitting the most, and after thats completed, use another multiply layer to darken areas behind those highlights. For example, if the light hits your characters nose, on the opposite side of that youll see a cast shadow from that light!

Hopefully that kinda answered your question a little bit!
