Remember that itās ok to have plot holes as long as they arenāt major, not everything has to be explained or make sense. Many popular works contain plot holes and your work could become boring if you try to get rid of all of them.

ā¢I usually just let stuff come to me lol, but I guess lately I've been tryin 2 establish like, specific character motivations, what parts of the world I wanna show off through the plot and how, like how the characters complement each other, and what the emotional arcs r gonna b?

ā¢I usually like to worldbuild off of the characters' backstories if I develop the character before the world. Think about where they came from, what's different about their world from ours, and how that effects other characters around them. I've found the best way to discover plotholes is to make a rough outline and examine it for gaps in the story. If there's a question left unanswered, figure out the answer (the reader doesn't need to know, but you do). And as someone mentioned already, it's all about making connections to other parts of the story
I've found most worldbuilding develops from these questions: How do they do this thing? Why is it like that?
"How" is the worldbuilding, and "Why" is your lore. I suppose that would make "Who" your characters.

ā¢Connect, I just try to find the way to connect every aspect of the story in a way that makes sense. If I have a scene in mind that doesn't have much to do with the actual plot, I will try to unify it with a sub plot, if I can't figure how to make something be part of the rest, I get rid of it, or put it in other plot. I don't know if this makes sense, is just the way I do it naturally

ā¢For OC backstories I think about what makes that character that character. Their interests, likes, dislikes, personality, etc. From there, I ask myself why that character likes that specific thing or why they have a specific personality trait and incorporate that event into their backstory. For example, one of my charactersā philosophies is that sympathy makes a person weak. From that philosophy, I came up with that the reason she holds that philosophy is because she used to be sympathetic herself and lost everything she cared about because of that sympathy

ā¢Best tip for making a story I received was āknow the ending of the story before you know the beginningā. The ending is a pretty important part (even if itās open-ended) and it makes you think how should the events go in order to fit and make sense
I usually get inspiration during a shower or when I try to sleep so it depends on what inspires you, but Iād recommend some songs that make you think about your character(s)

ā¢For stories I try to think what each scene leavers the characters with, like what do they lose and gain which i do with both protags and antags, that way each scene feels more important so like definately I'd say avoiding scenes people feel was useless is generally good. World building wise I'd say look at what you need and what you're interested in, you don't wanna develope a world you'll lose interest in or that you struggle to ground your story in
