DTIYSIlustraBarbara (DTIYS Entry)

I finished another digital art piece today. This time, it is one of my small baby steps into learning kidlit style art. I am still new to this style, so I tried to keep things bright, simple, and cheerful. It was also my entry for a “Draw This in Your Style” challenge hosted by Ilustrabarbara, which made the task even more fun.

In the artwork, I drew a group of happy children who are dreaming about what they want to become one day. Each child shows a different dream.

At the top, there is a joyful girl holding a microphone. She has curly hair with a big yellow bow, and she is singing with a wide smile. Her face looks full of energy, as if she loves performing on a stage.

Next to her is a boy who wants to be an artist. He stands in front of a canvas with a painting of a sunny sky. He holds a paintbrush in one hand and a palette in the other. There are colourful paint marks on his shirt, which makes him look like he has been painting for a while.

At the bottom left, there is a boy dressed as an astronaut. He wears a white space suit and helmet, and he looks ready to float among the stars. His cheerful face makes him look excited about exploring space.

On the right side, there is a girl who dreams of becoming a scientist. She wears a lab coat and holds a test tube with bubbling liquid inside. The little sparkles around the test tube make the experiment look lively and magical.

In the centre stands a child dressed like a superhero. He wears a red cape and a shirt with a bright star on it. His hands rest on his hips, and he smiles with confidence, like someone ready to save the day.

I placed all the children together so their dreams feel connected. Even though their goals are different, they share the same bright spirit and hope for the future.

In the end, I think the artwork turned out quite fine. The colours feel warm and lively, and the characters look cheerful. Still, since I am only taking baby steps in learning kidlit art, I know there are things I should improve next time. I want to practise better shapes, cleaner lines, and stronger poses. I also want to learn how to make the expressions even clearer and more playful.

Even so, this piece feels like a good step forward. It reminds me that learning a new style takes time, patience, and a lot of small tries. And for now, I am happy that I made another step.
