Honestly, with all the movies being remade nowadays (both deserving and undeserving), I´m kinda just bored of it all? I can see how a movie with good ideas, but bad executions would be ideal for remakes, but I´m honestly not too keen on even that.
I think some movies were made for a certain era and trying to remake it to suit modern audience doesn´t work most of the time. I would prefer to be part of an era that isn´t just rebooted movies and franchaises. As Pina said, new stories for movies would be more ideal.

The Black Cauldron hands down. It needs to be reanimated, rewritten and picked up by a different company. It failed in the first place due to development hell and over half the story being changed. If Disney sold the rights of that movie to a better animation studio, it would be AMAZING!!!!

Eh, probably 'Manji' (based on the book 'Quicksand' by Junichiro Tanizaki). I quite enjoyed the book and i love the 1964 film adaptation.
However, the modern adaptations other than the 1983 version are absolutely trash. I like the subtle tension brought by the 1964 version, but i do like the added modern adaption of the 83' that fits well enough within the overall theme.
I recently watched the 2023 version, and never again will i watch it. It was like 'Blue is the Warmest Color' all over again and I just can't with those types of movies where some 'scenes' are just way too long and exploitative.
There's so much potential for a modern day Manji to showcase how far Japan has come with not only LGBT matters but also sex/work/marriage culture and also show it's short comings along with it.
