When you spend a lot of time working on a piece that doesn't get the level of reaction you had hoped for, what do you do to move on?

Personally, I have to remind myself to keep working at it! Good things happen with time, and everyone has to start somewhere. It can be a bit disheartening though!

I get kinda upset by it and question that is it my fault should I have post it at an earlier an kind of rethink but when that happens I kinda of go out for a bit and take my mind off it!
It sucks but remember you can always re-upload it sometime later on; a lot of prominent artists re-up their old work all the time. Sometimes the algorithm just sucks and the right people don’t see it
My notifications are off when I upload stuff and I go to watch a movie or something, not ride the wave of social media bleeps and bloops. I always upload on the same day of the week and roughly at the same time of day, so there's no 'bad timing' to worry about. I always have a buffer of at least one picture that is ready but not posted, so finished work gets to 'cool down' in my mind and I'm already mostly over it when other people get to see it, and that ONE thing I worked really hard on is not everything I have. I do these things to help have emotional distance to my art and posting it.

Calmly aim your focus on your skills, their development, and the stories and ideas inside you. Eyeballs are just eyeballs.

They vary.
Definitely a big disappointed feeling. All of that excitement already built up because of how proud I am, and it feels like it just gets shot down, lol. I just keep reminding myself to move on and keep at it. Hard work pays off in the end, and if you're passionate then you'll for sure get there eventually. 💚 easier said than done of course.
Of course I feel disheartened, but I remember that the reaction I get from other people does not dictate the value of importance of the art I make!! If I’m proud of my art, I’ll stay proud of it💖
I do feel disappointed but i leave it in my wip folder and start working on it again when I’m in a creative mood and then i go over it again i make i look better 🧡
Definitely pisses me off and makes me discouraged to post but I just deal with it and hope the next post does better.
“ Welp. “ possibly might end up deleting it from my profile because I’m getting self conscious about having a piece there NO ONE cares about. I close the app and do something completely different.
I’m the kind of person that thrives on validation so I have a hard time with this ;; but I’ve started to realize that the art I do is for me, not others
Uhhh idk,,, when something like this happens it’s just kinda disappointing- but it sorta motivates me to do better next time!🤩
I used to almost cry about that before, now I still worry about it, but also feel like loosing interest to sharing art, so I guess in some time I would not react and think about that at all
Just remember that the attention you get doesn’t dictate your worth! Even the most impressive pieces in museums were hated because they didn’t fit into the art critiques box and now they’re in museums!! As long as you enjoy your work and you enjoyed making it then you’re doing just fine!
It's good to just keep going! I get feeling discouraged about it, but in the end, it's not about the likes, it's about you and your art piece that you completed and you're proud of and that's an amazing accomplishment! I'm proud of you, keep it up! 🫂😎🤙🖤
