Over the Rainbow 
(Memorial piece)Soren was a wonderful rat who belonged to my sister, @woodmouse. Despite not owning him, I still got to spend time with him every day, and I had a special bond with him, too. Today he had to be put to sleep.
I will miss his perfect ears and his grey coat with subtle brown undertones and the way he greeted me and how he would refuse any food that wasn't sugary and how warm he always seemed to be and how his fur looked unkempt no matter how much he groomed and how he could separate any fight between his brothers and his deep blue eyes, the way his left eye was always squinty, and the way I could tell how intelligent he was just by looking into them. Most of all, I will miss his face. And petting him. And even getting peed on or accidentally scratched by his claws when he was so enthusiastic about climbing all over us. I would be scratched a million times to bring him back.
I love you, Soren. You're so cute. I know you aren't in pain anymore. Please take care of Binoo in the meantime, and your brothers when they meet you again. I know you will. Sweet baby.

I remember as a teen my sister had a pet rat called Felix. I liked how friendly he was when I interacted with him. They had another one, a female, but she wasn’t as friendly (and I don’t remember her name)
