{[CONTENT WARNINGS: RANT, CURSING, POSSIBLE UNDERTONES OF NSFW]}

So I've just recently been into it but, why do people tend to hate the furry Fandom more than others that are much worse? For example, the your boyfriend game has a shitty community and is shitty inof its self, but it much less crap than furries do. Furries get death threats and have had literal life threatening experiences do to the hate. (Midwest FurFest 2014 chlorine incident)

There's bad stuff and people in every Fandom, with NSFW to match. And somehow people seem to think furries are overtly sexual.
Today I brought up furries to my mom, not even saying I was one, but was told to stay away from the Fandom as "people do it as a fetish thing" and that even if it wasn't bad, people "think of it in a bad light and that as a Christian I should set an example."
Girl, you also say I shouldn't care what people think.

I'm just tired. Sorry for ranting.

They think it’s 100% adult content because of an episode of a scripted detective show, I think it was CSI?

They painted furries as sex-crazed deviants in the episode, people who like pretending their animals when getting in on, & we’ve been trying to fix that fucking mess ever since.

They also think “furry = bestiality,” which is literally not the case at all.

I think only like 35% is adult content, & the majority of furries are LITERALLY CHILDREN WHO LIKE COLORFUL ANIMALS!!!

Furry = people who think anthro animals are neat, it’s honestly not that illegal or deep. It’s the most harmless thing; people drawing purple dogs & blue giraffes who might wear people clothes & do people things like play video games. Or maybe they wear a costume of their own character as like a “cosplay” sort of thing with your own creation.

The furry fandom also has a history with LGBT+ pride, & people back then thought (& some unfortunately still do) that LGBT+ people were sex-crazed deviants. And so that’s likely a part of it too, as many LGBT+ people are furries.

And lots of furries are also disabled people.

So, in conclusion, the main reasons why is because of stereotypes forced onto us by a stupid, popular, TV show, people not understanding that the majority of us aren’t sick in the head wanting to do illegal things to animals (we go crazy when we discover a creep because we don’t want them in the fandom), & because most people who are furries are the types of people who are “othered.” These “other” people get bullied regularly, so being a furry is just another thing that makes them “othered.”
