el problema no suele ser la materia realmente, es el sistema que todo lo enfoca desde su pequeña mira.

I think it's because this way you learn to express yourself better, and if there are foreigner students in your class they learn Spanish. Idk. Still sounds pretty stupid to me, but the school system, at least here, is pretty outdated
