boyyyyyy howdy am I mad about this Post+ feature Tumblr is trying to implement.
I was happy to share my work on Tumblr as well as here but if Post+ goes through, I'm eternally grateful that I can fall back on Artfol. This site and its emphasis on sharing art (emphasis on sharing, aka without a paywall!) is more important than ever.
(To be clear, artists do deserve to be credited and compensated. That's why we have sites like Patreon and Kofi. Tumblr's jankiness, which is part of its charm imo, makes it devastatingly unfit to handle bank info. Not to mention the outright bigotry and harassment that takes place there, completely unchecked, on a regular basis. Tumblr was never intended to be a monetizable site and it shows, in its features and its largely fandom content. Post+ is such a bad idea it's almost funny.)Jul 22, 2021

if post + does happen I'm hoping it's actually optional and not in the way of other features/doesn't break anything else and you aren't limited because you didn't pay. like you can't post/can't post a big amount in a day for example.
