Have any of you ever swam in a lake? What was your expectations, your experience, how'd it go?

Yes I have a couple of times and it is nice! I am not a great swimmer so I touch the bottom a lot in the shallow parts. I would recommend wearing some of those swimming shoes really save your feet from all the sticks and stones down there. I also have a fear of water but slowly getting over it day by day hence why I can’t really swim. Defiantly wear a life jacket! Also be prepared to feel a fish brush past your legs! But they are just little and more scared of you :3 best of luck to you!!!

Yes, lakes and ponds are great but an untamed lake is going to have muck and grasses at the bottom. A swimming pond/beach is way better. I don't know why but when I went out to the docks, there were a lot of spiders including wolf spiders. Why are spiders especailly that big floating on a chunk of wood in the middle of the water? How the fuck did they get there? IDK. I think the thing that will make you most nervous is the water temp. There's a layer on top that's heated more by the sun. The deeper the water the harder it is to warm so if you go down your going to feel the cold and that will trip you up. There's also fish in lakes, sometimes bigger fish. Nothing that can hurt you though. Your fear is rational to a degree. I mean lakes are really deep and the phobia is more an initial reaction to drowning since you can't touch the bottom to lift yourself up.. If it makes you that uncomfortable you don't have to go in deep water. Verbalize that. Its much more fun to boat or canoe on a lake. Good luck.

Lakes are one of my favorite places!!! Swimming in them is so fun, only bottom is a little off putting if you can reach it cause it’s mushy from all the wet plants and stuff. But it is so fun, some of my best memories were made in lakes!

In my country everyone goes to a lake in the summer, since we don't have an ocean or a sea. It's awesome, there is something special in swimming in a lake or a river, you feel so close to nature

•I did!! The only issue was that the water was really REALLY cold haha, but perhaps that also depends of the lake you're swimming in. It's a really nice experience tbh, I wish I could do it again! I'm pretty sure you'll have fun as well. As long as you stay in a safe spot with no waterstream there's nothing to be worried about, it's just like a swimming pool! But if you're that scared don't force yourself if you don't feel like it! I'm sure whoever you're going with will understand <:'0 Whatever you do in the end, good luck! Yeah and it was lovely!! There’s a warm lake in a town like 4 hours away from me or so? It’s super super nice C: it was on a sandy beach too!! Just instead of ocean it was lake, and it was real safe by the shoreline! I hope your swimming adventure went alright haha, but def don’t force yourself to do stuff your uncomfy with C: its safe, but your emotional well-being is important too!

I haven’t gone swimming in a lake (only beaches, pools, and rivers) but I did go canoeing in a bioluminescent lagoon at night
It was really dark but also extremely safe
I’m absolutely sure you’ll be ok, but there’s nothing shameful about being afraid of dark water
Dont force yourself to swim if you don’t feel comfortable, but if you do, remember that it’s very safe and try to distract yourself

I would probably not be thrilled about swimming in a natural body of water either lol, I've been spoiled by clean pools
I used to swim for the Lancers (CBU), did that for about ten years
After that I have never actually chosen to swim in anything but a pool lol
