does anyone else feel uncomfy when non artist irl people see your art?
like i just feel so weird bc they tend to take it as a “reflection of your likes and personality”

Yeahhh.. showing people my art, esp sketchbooks, is never a vibe. Once a few years back /i/ had to argue with /my aunt/ about what /MY/ drawing was depicting and it just pissed me off so bad back then arggghh and one time a teacher of mine just grabbed my sketchbook w/o permission and just hnghhbhgbbn not fun

I tend to show my art to people and I usually don't have much problems but to be fair most of my friends are artists so I guess that doesn't count. My main annoyance is when I show something to my parents and I get a 'much better than I could do' (often when im asking for critique/adivce) and like yeah I've been doing this for years and you haven't so yeah I'd hope so.

Hm,, most the people I’m exposed to are very quirky so showing them my art they really enjoy seeing the different stuff I draw even if it’s extremely gory or whatever probably because I have a very bubbly personality so they don’t see it as a reflex of my because they know what my personality is like haha,, the only people I don’t like showing my art to is my auntie who is a traditional artist that doesn’t see digital art or anime art as “real” art and my grandma who doesn’t understand what she’s looking at lmao other than that I love sharing my art with other people

whenever I do gore my mother just has a issue saying its all we talk or do when I don't do it much. usually because both my siblings also do gore/death.
