Julia Selene, Character Reference SheetCharacter reference sheet for my main character, Julia Selene. Overall I'm happy with this. Made a few things a little too dark, inconsistent hair and skin. Expressions turned out well I think.
This is Julia at 14, in her casual everyday clothes. Pretty much where the story starts. She spends a lot time drawing in her various sketchbooks. The pencil is mostly metal with rods of graphite inserted via a metal cylinder container. No idea what's in her bag but had fun designing it. She covers the walls of her bedroom with her sketches.
Most of the time, Julia has a neutral expression or a slight frown. However, she's sometimes prone to outbursts (mainly crying). She lacks confidence and prefers to be alone. Still, she's well aware she's lonely, and longs for relationships.
She lives with her mother and stepfather, not really knowing much about her biological father. Her mother's name is Donna. She obsesses over her appearance and works as a maid. The stepfather is a gruff man working on electrical utilities in nearby ruins.
Butterflies (moths?) in this and other Julia art represent a subconscious connection to technology. Her setting is built out of the ruins of a society that had the capability of connecting minds. Present society has reengineered and begun to implement aspects of this system. Eventually, Julia becomes one of the focal points of this emerging system, gaining a sense of belonging and power. This is what leads to her digital forms I've drawn. Hopefully I'll make a reference sheet for those too one day.Oct 29, 2022
