The Pianist in the Belltower
Finally I’m satisfied with this! I drew the environment a while ago, but I always intended to add Rook playing the piano in the nook under the staircase.The King considers the Rook his protégé - not a successor to the throne by any means, but a sort of prized pet project. So the Rook is not just trained in combat, but in things like etiquette, elocution, and as depicted here, playing the piano.
In some situations a hovering bodyguard may imply mistrust or paranoia, or even make guests feel threatened, so he is stationed at the piano where he can fade into the background and unobtrusively monitor the situation.Aug 17, 2023

I live how this scene is built! Elegance and mystery all at once! Rook fits so well here and the way those stairs are designed with chess pieces is such a clever detail!
