Calling all comic creators
How do I start a comic?
Also, how would I upload it to WEBTOONs?

i love giving people comic advice!

1. Write a basic story outline: your main conflict, beginning, climax/middle, and end! You don’t have to know your story in excruciating detail because the details will come as you create each chapter - although important plot points that suddenly come to you should be written down for sure!

2. Check out “4 Time Saving Tips from a Guy Who Spent 13 Years Creating A Comic” on Youtube… thank me later 😬

3. On webtoon, a page is required to be 800x1280 in dimensions, but because you have to scroll from the top down to read, I find it’s always best to create a sequence of pages that interconnect. In other words, don’t work on individual pages but have one giant page that you can crop and divide later. For me, one canvas is typically 800x10,240 - so 8 pages and it’s usually enough!

4. Do NOT worry yourself too much about how often you can upload. It doesn’t matter if you upload a chapter a week, every 2 weeks, or every month. What matters and what captivates an audience is consistency. I’ve seen Webtoons with authors that upload monthly that are just as successful as the weekly ones. Just make sure you make your schedule clear to your followers + update them often on any changes that might come to your schedule.

5. If you have a really busy life irl, create a buffer. If you don’t know what that is, it means that you don’t create chapter 1 and upload it right off the bat.
You create chapters 1-4, and schedule them to be uploaded at later dates. Doing this allows for your comic to be uploaded consistently but gives you time to go to work, school, etc. and, of course, time to work on more chapters.
