A map of the Aquarii Star Cluster in 2545, UNSC Military Calender.The Aquarii Star Cluster is a region of space roughly 400 light years from Sol, where various groups of humanity, primarily from the now decimated Outer Colonies, have been fleeing to escape the Human-Covenant War and the UEG's authoritarian control since the early 2530s. Though the cluster has thousands of star systems spanning across a 250-light-year stretch of the Orion–Cygnus Arm, only a fraction have been explored by the human refugees and deserters that have settled here. Most human settlements are centralized in a cluster of space about 60 light-years across. However, the region is rich in habitable worlds viable for human habitation, with some 125 star systems having been colonized by humanity. (Though only about 70 are shown here.) And thanks to several 'Slipspace Highways,' currents in Slipspace that allow for faster FTL travel time than what would typically be feasible in such a long, arduous transit, discovered by refugees have allowed for humanity to travel to the cluster from the Sol 'Local Interstellar Cloud' within two to three months as opposed to the 6 to 9 months it likely would generally take with the inconsistent time currents of Slipspace.
The habited star systems labeled are systems with populations numbering over 300,000, along with the 5 major powers of the region.
