I loveloveLOVE to see Katara with traditional inuit tattoos. The only ones not inspired by traditional tattoo designs are the little waves on her arms and the one on her forehead, which I thought would be more particular to the water tribe.
The forehead tattoo, specially, is a combination of a wave and a half moon, as a symbol for water benders! I can imagine how Katara would be excited and even teary-eyed when she got to the Northern Water Tribe and everyone sported a tattoo like her.
