"this... This place is..."He should have entered his empty apartment, save for the floor covered with newspaper and pots. Filled with a variety of houseplants. A bed and a small kitchen. Simple, and his. It could have been a reminder of what he lost... but it was fine. Nothing he could do now. He wasn't expected to meet face to face with a pet store. Gazing behind him, he marveled at the space beyond the glass.
It was an urban legend of sorts, written on Reddit, spoken about by those on YouTube or on a podcast. Some chose to show them off, others kept their creatures to themselves. But the common thread was a store in space...and plant pets. It was a strange idea. He seen the photos, many argue that they were all fake, CGI and Photoshop.
Before other thoughts of the sort filled his head something jumped into him. "Ah-?" Out of reflex he caught the creature, a tuxedo cat. He... She... It? Rubbed into his shoulder and purred. Loud.
"Ah, another customer." His eyes shifted over to the person speaking, they looked... Ethereal somehow...maybe cause they had all sorts of plant creatures around them. Insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish even. "Come this way... I'll teach you how to care for that one. Your payment has already been received." He blinked but followed regardless, being careful to avoid the creatures on the floor.

When I first started this I thought of an xxholic/tsubasa reservoir Chronicles store? That you kinda just come to without warning. But with plant pets lol. It's stupid but I thing the drawing turned out cute. Tried to use the flowers in the original on the cat.Oct 28, 2021
