How do you feel about Instagram? I want to rantMar 1, 2021

I feel like its hard to get engagement on Instagram but im fine with it nonetheless
I feel like the toxicity from Twitter is slowly seeping into insta. Especially in the art community
Since its own by facebook now, i delete it in my primary phone and moved it to the second phone which i rarely used. The algorithm sucks in there and really its hard to grow, the new priority now is save post rather than likes, i never even get enough reach or audience like i used to. I only open it if some friends send me a post or dm me, but either way it could effect you're mental health easily if you're attached to it.

Its a good social media but not for new or small artist
if you want to get popular on it it's either you dont or bootlick the algorithm..2nd option tends to produce less endearing art . I always got the impression that the people who recently got big are forcing themselves to accommodate the ever worse algorithm 🤔
It's really hard to grow an audience and make sure your followers engage with your posts I don't think it's an artist friendly app not posting for a few days could really ruin your engagement I'm actually planning on moving to artfol when the beta is finished
I don't think I'd ever use it for art myself, way too many issues. I just post random photos I take here and there and that's it.
i don't really care if my art gets noticed or not, i only share my art because i want and i draw what i like, but i really appreciate if someone comments or if i can make a new friend at the end of the day! :^)
It intimidates me, I feel like is useless to try there bcs everything is bigger than me, it's like a cold place
I mean it's ok for it's intended audience , the cringe tik tokers and horny people ... Uhh , but memes and drawings are good , but I hate when there is a account that only post one thing , for example Five nights at freddy's or Super Mario , whenever ( not all of them )they post a drawing and it's not there's they barely give credit .
It makes me depressed, apparently in the eyes of instagram if you dont post memes or step-brother memes ypur art has no value. I hate seeing Instagram only supporting celebrities and +100k artist while not giving a crap about small artists.
For artists, it's honestly infuriating. The popular just get more popular imo. It's so hard to build an audience and no way am I gonna conform to some algorithm. Like I just wanna make art when I'm inspired, it sucks that that's not the way insta works to grow an account :(
Used to be fun but now is just tiring
It has some good things, like for example I found many great artists and also made some friends there, but the algorithm really sucks. Back in September I had less followers (I have 162 now, back then probably a bit over 100) but my reach was usually around 350, new people found me and I found new artists as well. Now I can be lucky if my reach gets more than 100, and it's also so much harder to find new artists. If story shares weren't a thing I would've never found so many interesting people. Unless you post like, 2 new drawings every day (which is impossible for most people, including myself) you apparently have no chance :/
The other comments already said what I think, but the algorithm is so biased and pretty bad for all the reasons below :/
It used to be fun posting there, but now it's a hellscape of ripoff features and reposters ripping artists off.
What bothers me the most is the changing algorithm it seems they can't go two months without changing it
I was on insta some few months ago, it was kind of an weird love-hate relationship for one side I found really good artist that i loved to see for getting inspiration, references and study, but othehand it's difficult to make you art well-known or get some kind of healthy critisicm (some people don't want to be canceled for being rude so they won't help you correctly, and others would be hard) I think that instagram praises tendencys like tik tok does, you must draw what is popular at the moment or otherwise you won't grow your account.
for me its really to get yourself out there and find new REAL followers that aren’t bots- i have some mutuals on there that have been my friends for a few years so i don’t want to leave, and even though my account is small on there (70 followers, and my old account had 700) it’s more attention than i have on any other of my social medias so i have nowhere to go if i were to quit lol
