People online are losing it over the US trying to ban TikTok and acting as if they can’t go somewhere else. Ffs.

Two things are true: further regulation needs to be made about social media companies selling personal information to third parties, and TikTok sucks.

Instagram reels and YouTube shorts are the exact same thing, because those 2 platforms panicked about an outsider gaining attention.
If you ask me, they should all be banned for the negative impact they're having on attention spans, not just because tiktok might have Chinese spyware in it.

i’ve been boycotting tiktok for years; after someone ended their life on a livestream and tiktok called their PR team before the police/ambulance. i don’t support the company and i think a ban would be good, especially since instagram reels are basically the same with less drama.

•Eh- Twitter and Facebook all do the same thing people say Tiktok is doing. Which it certainly is, no doubt...but if the reasoning is "they can sell your information to Chinese companies" then they should place the same restrictions on all social medias- cause all social medias (Facebook, Twitter, Insta, etc) sell your information to third-person parties that may well be working for the Chinese government.

because oh my is there a lot of stupid people on that social media that don't know any common sense.
like if TikTok does get banned there's always YouTube shorts or any apps that are like TikTok.
