Yes, it notifies you as someone mentioning you, that's because by default, when you share someone else's art you tag them.
People can delete the tag so the artists isn't notified, but i haven't seen someone do that.

When someone shares a post, it automatically puts your @ in the caption, but they have the option to delete and share without tagged you, so you'll only get notified if they tagged you in the caption, BUT, whether they tag you in the caption or not, if someone sees the shared version of the post, your @ will always be on it so that they can find your account.
