Any good tips for drawing things in prospective?Apr 18, 2021

I read and did the examples of Norling’s Perspective Made Easy to teach myself how to get perspective tho I don’t think I’m like perfect with it after that. I use perspective grids in art even after trying to teach myself the fundamentals. Something I learned recently is to start drawing a piece and then map on the perspective grid, rather than starting with the perspective grid first.

•take lots and lots of reference shots! also thinking of it being placed in a big box helps bc you can see exactly how the angles work with perspective. general good rule of thumb is that horizontal lines will bend up in an arc when you’re looking at it from the bottom up, and vice versa when looking at it from the top. also check out the coil method!

•I am,, not great with perspective either. But! Some tips that have helped me a bit is to map things out in boxes. You can build the boxes and stack them in three dimensions. Then you try to make your perspective design over it

•If you're struggling with perspective look up the coil method on youtube from sycra! It's a great way to cheese perspective on the human form! Drawabox.com is also really good with simple exercises to build perspective in a more general sense as well.
