Title of Work: Moonlit Night

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Designs used: Kowhaiwhai design - Koru, Koiri, Puhoro, Mangopare.
Description: this is an old painting I had the pleasure of redoing, before the sky designs were added to it; it was just an average background, it also needed a repaint as the colors were heavily faded.
I had first made this in my last year of study "graduation year" 2016 and was new to layering back then, I also hadn't considered layering the color in my paintings back then, so after a few years, the one layer I had done had washed out and the canvas itself had shown through.
This painting "Moonlit Night" was inspired by a dream I had had one night, where gravity wasn't an issue, where you could be as light as a feather, gliding along a grassy green hill under a wide moonlit sky like dim sunlight over the landscape. I had also briefly gone through a Van Gogh phase, hence the use of color. I was also told by other artists who had the pleasure of seeing the canvas while I was still working on it and had also mentioned that the designs also looked like a seashell and the grassy hill underneath was a deep abyss. As mysterious as the perspective sounds I quite like both explanations. @aiosteph
