I got super homesick last night and decided to start up this drawing of my dog, Strider.Mostly I was wondering what I might be able to do as far as replicating the pattern on the rug, replicating his curly hair texture, and whether or not I should keep this as a sketch or attempt to like actually paint this one.

The pattern on the rug looks like it’s symmetrical so maybe draw a small part of it and duplicate it to create a larger look and then warp/distort it so it fits the rug.
