Blacksmith Coffee in Houston, TX Kraft-paper Roll Little Mural Commission
1/3 I was commissioned by my favorite coffee shop, Blacksmith in Houston, TX to create a small mural on their Kraft-paper roll behind the espresso bar. I was inspired by their roaster, Greenway Coffee Co. who travels the globe to buy coffee. They chose me because I have created a series of illustrations with a character and animal best friend. I created Saska and Taska live in Costa Rica, one of the regions Greenway Coffee Co. buys beans. In the illustration coffee is represented by; flowers, berries, beans with a coffee leaf depicted as latte art. I also included yellow bird feathers, as birds are important pollinators. In this post you will see the vector illustration I created first. I knew free-handing the illustration such thin paper, indoors, after hours required me to be very efficient in multiple ways. Creating the illustration as vector, allowed me to transfer the design with chalk transfer paper. I used Holbein Acryla Gouache because of its boldness, one coat coverage and opacity. In the next post I will share the mural piece.Apr 16, 2021
