Eye JulEYE 2025 Challenge

I couldnt change the other post into a challenge post so Im gonna do this one here. Drawing cool eyes, close-ups and other cool eye related things. One of my favorite challenges I do thru the year. Ends the 31st but I wont do a hard end date if you wanna try doing it later (I know its artfight month XD).

Eye JulEYE 2025 3: Apple of Your Eye

Didn’t take long for one of the WOHN boys to show up XD Surprised it wasnt Doc tho 🤔. I used this prompt last year with Neo Queen Serentity and Chibiusa so I went a much different route.

The phrase appears in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”: “Flower of this purple dye, / Hit with Cupid’s archery, / Sink in apple of his eye”. Apple was taken to meaning the pupil in this context (though i can scarcely understand how you can drip anything into someone pupil while their eyes are closed asleep but then again Im not Oberon 🤷‍♀️).

As such, since purple is Doc’s image color, of course I would use this as an opportunity to twist that unrequited knife into Sniper. I picked the cyclamen as the flower because it has some associations with Cupid (apparently), made it violet/purple, and had the drips over one of his eyes. I was originally going to incorporate “cupid’s arrow” as a bullet but i think so far it stands ln its own without. Used lavender as the bg color for contrast to the yellow eyes and Im fairly happy with it. I just might repaint it to match up with Doc’s Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow flower painting, which means I might have to do all of them as a set @.@ Thats a Not Now Dio Problem.Jul 3, 2025
