Layers! One of the best things with acrylics is the ability to layer! Also, for me, I like to do under and overlays, it allows for an extra flare of colour

Also, opposite colours can really help add to a piece, ie. When I was painting a picture of my cat, it had a lot of oranges and browns, creams, etc, so for shading, I used dark blue ^^

Also, have fun with it! Maybe do some small, silly studies to help you get used to the medium ^^
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve painted with acrylics, but I’ve got some little pieces of info that may be of use!!
- this isn’t for painting itself, but when you clean up, clean your brushes PERFECTLY. If you don’t, acrylic will virtually ruin the brush. You do not want that!
- mix colors. There’s this weird phase of acrylic painting where colors overlap and it just starts to hit different. I sound delusional but I mean this so seriously LMFAOO it blends différent wet on wet… who knows if you paint long enough you may see what I mean
- don’t stress too much about your order of operations, cause acrylics cover one another up pretty easily 🫡

YOU GOT THIS! Acrylics are pretty error-friendly, so be confident!
Probably do a lot of fast painting to better get the feel of the medium.

You can water the medium down if you want it more glaze like. You need to put the paint in like a Tupperware container (a cheap one) where you can close the lid. Wet a thin paper towel and wring it and then put it over the container before placing the lid on top of it. That keeps the paint wet. That's a pretty basic thing though.
