Midas Touch

Okay, graphite and Gold?! I’m in @scrawlrbox , I’m all in!

Thank you for sending me this amazing box.
So for the „Midas Touch“ challenge I thought of what I could actually draw with a touch of gold. In the end I thought „Why not draw Midas himself?!“ I was looking at some amazing pictures of Michelangelo‘s David and I have always been in love with these kind of statues. Same goes for all kinds of ancient coins and reliefs. I wanted him to kinda look like you would look at an old bas relief. So I took David, made him a bit older and gave him a beard to make him more fitting to my imaginative picture of an old Midas relief.
Some ivy like plant tendrils around him in gold, to show not only the precious beauty but also the poisonous risks.
Adding some details to the gold with the pencils worked fine too, it gave the leaves so much more details.

So, here he is: Midas.
