For me it depends how well they're written, but i do tend to find them irritating when it comes to block-buster movies or Hollywood productions. The romance feels like a mandatory bulletpoint that just doesnt impact or relate to the rest of the story sometimes.
But if it's done well? Absolutely fantastic

•I’m writing a lgbt romance story. But it’ll be different in terms of the main characters will be the main characters. And the two won’t have any drama. And they’ll be together from the start.

•No, I really don’t like seeing romance and it’s usually the thing that turns me away from a lot of shows and media. A lot of the time it doesn’t even feel needed or deserved and it feels like it’s only there for the sake of it or a lazy way to move the plot forward without any effort. If it’s actually important to the characters story and plot and feels deserved then that’s different but again a lot of the time it just doesn’t feel needed, I’m also just not big into romance as a whole but those are my main gripes with it.

•I don’t care if there’s “chemistry”,if it’s not exploding that lab I’m angry! They just add it in because they’re aware of the power of shipping culture. I just hate the vast majority of romance in general,especially in real life. I don’t watch many movies/tv series since there’s usually more romance shoved in as it goes on for extra “progression”.

•I don't hate romantic relationships in media, I actually love romantic relationships as long as they're well written and are important to the story, but if it doesn't contribute to the plot or character development I think it's kinda unnecessary and it lowkey feels forced.
Like there's sooooo many stories that adds romance just for the heck of it, even though the character's don't have any chemistry! Usually it's a male protagonist that meets a woman and they fall in love because... that's apparently what's supposed to happen in stories??? Why can't they just be friends tho????

•Yeah I get you. It’s the always the one with no chemistry what so ever that get together. Sometimes it’s pointless and unnecessary in movies. Idk what other people think though

•I agree woth the tiring portion you feel. Because at this point it's kind of just a rinse and repeat scenario. They all use similar stories with similar backgrounds. The last love story on TV that I watched was Outlander.
And it's the same woth Anime. I love Yaoi over hetero anime because Yaoi spice things up and make it different.
Almost all the hetero anime I watch all start in a highschool setting where they either don't confess until the very end. Or they do get together and they don't show us what happens after highschool. Yaoi? At least we get a celebrity relationship, a office relationship, an age gap relationship, a normal person and mafia person relationship etc.
And some of my favorite relationship stories are things that include demons or spirits or mythological ideas rather than normal people.
The last two hetero love stories I enjoyed was Horimiya and Violet Evergarden. Clannad is always on top for me because after highschool they get married and have a family etc.

•Despite the fact that I love romance, I do agree that in most movies nowadays, it gets very pointless, and straight up cringe. Like 365Days. My friends legit like that and say how lovely and romantic it is and I'm just like what??? I saw all three of them and it really is terrible and unnecessary.
It's why I don't watch american stuff. It's mostly bad in those because in Kdramas, I haven't really felt like love was unnecessary. I certainly did cringe at some point, but it's not nearly as bad as it is in american movies and series.
