War Paint

This is my most recent painting, and probably the most creative artwork I’ve done in a very long time. I still have mixed feelings about it. I think my main beef with it is that I should have brought the darkness further in, and should have changed the colors of the paint on the face. It’s just one of those artworks that looked better in your head you know? Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Also, I swear I’m not narcissistic 😂 I just didn’t have another model to use at the time. Anyways, I wanted this painting to speak to the power art, or the very act of creating, has in the world. To the artist or creator, it’s kind of like armor against the challenges life brings. It doesn’t necessarily have to be loud or imposing to speak their personal truth, nor does it have to be remarkably grand to invoke feeling or change. A lot of the time, the true beauty of art lies in the quieter and smaller moments of creation that are just between it and the creator.... The joy and peace it brings.

this is amazing!! i love your shading!! i would add shadows around the edges to blend them into the background and make the colors brighter and maybe more smudged or more raised like thick acrylic
This is so gorgeous! The concept is great and it’s executed really beautifully. I think it could maybe be improved by making the shadows a tiny bit more saturated? They look a tad too dull to me, but I may be biased due to my own colour theory choices haha. Something to think about anyway. Great work! 💕💕
This is so meaningful and moving! I love the message and I think you have portrayed it nicely! 😍 (The only think that I could add is that the paint could be more contrasting/lighter maybe - but it just personal taste and I think this is great too!) Oh! You could have added a bit of paint on the hand since it’s used to apply it :)❤️
