@vicibean's post on Artfol
Okay, I´m gonna make a post about something I have noticed a lot recently. This is not aimed at someone in particular, its a message for everyone.
A lot of people have recently started to act very aggressivly and even maybe a bit manipulative when they don´t get the amount of attention towards their art. While I can understand the frustration of making art that takes hours, maybe even days or weeks, only for it to not get the attention you were hoping for.
But you should absolutely not, under any circumstances, lash that frustration out on your followers. They CHOSE to follow your art, but they have lives of their own. They cannot always give you nor do they owe you attention. Also take a step back and imagine being in their position. Would you feel comfortable seeing someone you follow throw a tantrum because you don´t give them enough attention? No? Then don´t do it yourself. You´re showing people that unless they give you exactly what you want, their status as your follower means nothing to you.
And as it has been continiously mentioned on this app over and over; the main demographic here are children and teenagers. The things they see here will affect them whenever you like it or not. So if they see someone acting immature and insecure, it will have an impact in making them more insecure in themselves. As a result, they will throw the same fit whenever they´re in the same position. Because they have seen other poeple done it and think its okay behaviour.
If you seriously need validation from other people to boost your confidence in yourself or your art, maybe take a break from social media? Go do something else and then come back once you´re in a good headspace again. If that doesn´t help, maybe talk to someone, professional or someone you trust. This is a serious issue and social media is known to not be good for people with low self-esteem. Even if Artfol tries its best to be the better community to be part of.Feb 19, 2023

THANK YOU! I really hate seeing posts complaining about not getting enough attention or something. Whether we like it or not, it's never about our "effort" of putting so much hours on an artwork that LITERALLY NOBODY ASKED FOR, nor the effort we put on posting everyday. Artists chose to share their art, we literally don't have the right to demand attention from others, especially strangers on the internet.

•I don't even have anything to say, you literally said everything I was thinking ♡
Thank you for this! People need to remember that people choose to follow you on your art journey, forcing others to follow you will just have the opposite effect.

•This is a sad thing to read... Because it's means that there is now enough peoples on this platform so it start to pick up the "basic toxicity" of other social media....
People have to understand that everyone of us is really difficult to find with all the people around here...
Throwing a tantrum won't help, just waiting for attention won't help, it won't even help for you own mental state...
If people are just looking for attention then their mind are already kinda poisoned by social media... Just go back, take a break I try to remember what's life looks like... People can be really happy with really few people as long as it the goods ones for them!
Platform as Artfol are for "sharing" ! You won't received anything if you don't take the time to give! Sharing is an exchange and a genuine one! If you just follow and like a bunch of people to have attention than you're really going in the wrong direction because that not giving attention that's just putting trap to satisfy your narcissism...
Take time to learn about people and be genuinely curious about them and you will obtain a healthy relationship, with than you won't even care to have 3 or 300 like if you have one of your news friends come by and being curious about you

•Thanks for saying it outloud. I already said this, but we shouldn't focus on numbers. We should interact with other people, whether they give their attention back or not is up to them, they don't owe us anything.
As for myself, I was looking for a good community, and I'm happy with it.
I don't feel pressure to post my art everyday (though I did post a few artworks many days in a row because I had a lot of old arts to share) nor do I feel the pressure to draw for others.
