The Teenage Saga: Photobooth II

It is a day in late Summer 2005 and you are on your way to buy beer and snacks with your oldest friend - the girl you have known for almost your entire life. In the shopping centre you run into two friends and you quickly let go of her, hoping that the two didn’t catch how you had your arm wrapped around her while walking, how she had her hand in the back pocket of your jeans. The girl with the red hair starts rambling a mile a minute once she spots her friend, and the boy just keeps munching on his fish&chips. You like the two, but you’re annoyed anyway. Most things and people annoy you, any time your mind is clear. You will fix that very soon. A look around the hall. There has to be a quiet, unsupervised spot somewhere.

Your friend tugs at your sleeve; you turn around and force a light expression. You promised her to spend the night at her place. You haven‘t been very good at keeping your promises in the past months, and you know she won’t let you bail this time. You don‘t even really want to bail. You like her, after all. You enjoy her warmth, and the benefits that come with this particular friendship.
She suggests trying out the photo booth her friend had just told her about and you couldn‘t be less thrilled. Cute-cutesy posing, flashing smiles - that is just not your thing. Today is about humouring her, though, as you don’t want her to catch up on what you‘ve been up to. Deep down you know that she knows, but as long as she never mentions it, you‘re good.

In the booth she steals your hat, puts it on and flashes you a cocky smile… and you can‘t help but smile back. You lift up her chin and gently turn her head to face the camera, squishing her cheeks. She snuggles up to you and for a fleeting moment you enjoy the genuineness of her touch, realising that she deserves better than what you could ever offer her. It‘s good to have her around, though. She never asks for much. Some photos from a booth, at most. You‘d be stupid to let her go.

So you just don‘t.

My other photo booth doodle from last year, featuring some of my idiots in their teenage years - Lowell "Fozzy" Foster and his childhood friend Lucille "Lucy" Dunn. They are school friends of Hallie and Lance. Lowell's adult version has a big part in my idiotverse... I'm not saying I've built a whole spin-off around him but that's kinda what I'm saying. 😂 Will share some of that eventually, too!

Lucy and Lowell are my characters, art is mine, too. Don't steal/repost/blah!
