All You Did was Save My Life
This piece is from the Eternity Concepts art show, based on my manga of the same name, which debuted in 2021. Like the majority of pieces for Eternity Concepts, it is inspired by music, personal experience, and my emotions. This one is titled after a song by Our Lady Peace with the same name, and chosen because of someone who has stuck by me during a time when I was battling endometriosis. No treatments worked and I progressively got more and more ill, but a local law allows doctors to refuse hysterectomies until you are over 25, have two kids, or both. I was 25 when the condition was found and in a dangerously abusive relationship. My abuser refused to give answers on the subject and kept delaying me getting the help I needed. When I finally freed myself in 2013, I was extremely sick; The surgery was in 2014, and I was told I could lose a kidney—luckily I didn’t, but no doctor had ever took my concerns of the disease spreading seriously, and it was terrifying to know they knew the danger all along and kept insisting having a baby would fix all my problems.Between that time, I met my best friend on earth. My best friend talked me down about my fears and helped me emotionally before and after surgery. To this day, we remain close as ever, and they often go out of their way to help me; A few months ago, I actually really almost DID die, because of malnutrition because of a stomach issue. It was my best friend who took me to get emergency care, where it was discovered I was on the verge of a heart attack due to a lack of potassium. I have a surgery coming up, and my best friend has agreed to move in with me temporarily and help, as I won’t be able to use one of my arms for 3-12 months. Being a fan of the series, I made this piece to symbolize how it felt, for the first time in my life, for someone to help me—to catch me when I fell—and to help me to get the surgeries, treatments, therapies, etc. to get to where I am now. I honestly don’t think I would be alive today if not for them, hence the title.
This piece is from the 2021 art show in the gallery my studio is in. It is framed and matted, with the final size including these being a whooping 29 inches across, and 41 inches long. All these massive pieces are a limited edition of one, so once purchased, they will never again be printed at this size. I carry smaller prints, the largest being 12 by 18, of unlimited editions of this piece, but they are nothing compared to seeing them so large and in person. If you want an original or print, you can use my website, contact me, or contact and/or visit the gallery in person!Jul 7, 2021
